After over two decades of crafting content on the Internet, I find myself venturing into the world of blogging for the first time. I invite you to join me on this journey, as I chronicle my thrilling (and sometimes less-than-thrilling) adventures travel on a motorcycle. If you're someone with a similar adventurous spirit, I hope you'll find some nuggets of wisdom here. Please feel free to share your thoughts or advice—they'll be most welcome!

2023-08-16 15.45.36.JPGDon't get me wrong—riding day and night, experiencing the freedom of the open road, is a joy I cannot overstate. I can wholeheartedly recommend countless routes across both southern and northern Ontario. There's a certain delight in ending the day at a cozy motel or restaurant, adding to the overall rewarding experience of a motorcycle journey.

To place this tale in context, let's roll back time to the spring of 2023. I had just reached the stage in life known endearingly as "senior citizenship" and had entered partial retirement. Both my brother and sister had recently passed away, leaving me reflecting on life, feeling the passage of time, and contemplating the need for change. So, what does a semi-retired man do in such circumstances? Naturally, I bought a Harley-Davidson, much to the shock and amazement of my family. My children were in disbelief, having no idea that I possessed a motorcycle license for the past 52 years. I acquired a 2000 Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic—fondly dubbed "Chiquita," a stunning blend of jade, black, chrome, and leather. This isn’t a bike for heavy cargo; it's meant for the rider, a bit of gear, and the joy of the ride.

The rest of that spring was dedicated to reacquainting myself with the art of motorcycle riding, focusing on safety first. Along the way, I met fellow enthusiasts in the same stage of life. Together, we embarked on day trips around the Niagara region and even ventured as far as Kitchener.

It was a delightful summer. Our group continued to relish these excursions well into November, with a few hardy souls riding into December. Indeed, it was a year to remember.

Winter, though, poses a challenge for motorcycle enthusiasts. It's a season of longing yet also a crucial time for planning the rides that await us next season.

More to come.
